We can all relate to this one! Nancy talks about relationships.
- What destroys relationships
- What heals relationships
- Healthy boundary setting
- The miracle of forgiveness
- Being influenced by God
Most of us approach marriage with a strong belief that our marriage will have the strength to endure and weather life's storms. And yet, we are all vulnerable to falling into self protective patterns that prove to weaken our relationships. We protect ourselves either by performing in ways that will win us the approval of others, or by controlling others in order to win their admiration.
Men and women are made different. In spite of those differences we both want the same thing - a strong friendship. A strong friendship makes for a satisfying marriage. It is important that we understand and embrace our differences rather than fight against them.
Parenting is the great leveler. It puts us all on common ground. In this talk, Nancy will uncover the difference between what it is to influence and empower our kids, rather than control them. We want our children to grow up with a belief that says, "I am loved because of 'who I am', not because of 'what I do.'"
How many of us as parents, are putting too much energy into fixing our children's deficits?
One of our chief goals as parents is to build resiliency in our children. That is the ability to cope with and overcome adversity. Focusing on the negative will not build a resilient mindset. Rather, taking a positive approach, one that looks for strengths and encourages positive character qualities will build resiliency.
